Editorial and Peer-Review Process

Safety Engineering of Anthropogenic Objects is committed to maintaining a transparent and clearly defined editorial process. Authors are informed of the status of their submitted manuscript at every stage of the procedure. A diagram presenting the editorial workflow is provided below.

After submission, each manuscript undergoes an initial formal assessment. The Editorial Team verifies whether the submission is complete, complies with the journal’s guidelines, and falls within its aims and scope.

Manuscripts that meet the formal requirements are forwarded to the Editor-in-Chief for an initial assessment of their scientific relevance and quality. Where necessary, the Editor-in-Chief may consult an appropriate Section Editor or another member of the Editorial Team.

Manuscripts that successfully pass the initial editorial assessment are screened for text similarity and potential plagiarism and are then sent to two independent reviewers. The journal applies a double-blind peer-review procedure, in which the authors and reviewers do not know each other’s identities.

Reviewer Recommendations

Reviewers may recommend:

• accepting the manuscript without changes;
• accepting the manuscript after minor revisions;
• reconsidering the manuscript after major revisions and, where appropriate, further review;
• rejecting the manuscript.

If the recommendations of the two reviewers differ substantially, the manuscript may be sent to a third independent reviewer. The final decision is made by the Editor-in-Chief after considering all the reviews received.

Authors are required to address all reviewers’ comments and submit a revised version of the manuscript together with a point-by-point response. A manuscript requiring substantial revisions may be returned to the original reviewers for further assessment.

Editorial Preparation and Publication

Accepted manuscripts undergo editorial preparation and professional English-language proofreading. Once the authors have approved the final version, the article may be published in the Online First section before being assigned to a complete issue of the journal.

The journal publishes four issues per year, in March, June, September and December.

Deadlines

Reviewers are normally asked to submit their reviews within 14 days of accepting the invitation. Authors are usually given 14 days to revise their manuscripts, unless a different deadline is agreed with the Editorial Team.
